Brake controller issues

With a new tow vehicle I was anxious to get it wired so that we could get out for our first camping trip. However on the Friday afternoon when I hooked up the trailer, I discovered that however they did the work there is a problem.
It would seem that I can apply the brakes to the trailer without touching the brake peddle. Is that right? By pushing the slide across my brake controller I can engage the trailer brakes.
I discovered this when the trailer wouldn't move. The brakes were locked up - by simply moving the adjustment slide I released the brakes and off we went. The brakes seem to work ok but the red light goes off when I apply the brakes!
Comments anyone?

RE: 2008 Aerolite Cob 185

We have now done 4 summers with our hybrid and love it. No doubt you will enjoy yours as well.

RE: HTT biggest complaint ?

More room in the shower...oh it's tight and I'm not a big guy. A skylight over the shower would be a big bonus!

RE: How long???

Well, since someone else ordered ours and then didn't take delivery ours took as long as the time it takes to do the PDI. I think we had it pretty quickly but then who takes delivery of a trailer in October when you live in Alberta?

RE: Curious..Who uses the shower in their HTT??

We use our shower all the time - it would be nice if it was larger, had more water pressure, didn't leak onto the floor...but after having a PUP for 7 years we think we are in heaven!

RE: Worried about snowload

I drive past RV lots all the time and I don't see any dealers up on the roofs of their RV's of any kind sweeping snow off them. If there are any dealers on this forum perhaps they could confirm my suspicion.

RE: Looking for a Unique Campground anywhere in the Western US

We stayed in a campground near South Bend, Washington right out on the coast. I think it was a bit removed from Suburbia but seemed to have lots of shops nearby and was near a State Park.

RE: Hybrid Wax

I really like using Mother's Gold California liquid wax. I wouldn't put it on the awning...but it is great for spot cleaning the awning. I like the fact that when the trailers waxed the bugs don't stick to the front and the black streaks clean off easily.

RE: what hybrids can i tow with my 07 chevy uplander?

I love this topic !! And having driven over the past three summers from Ontario to Vancouver Island, all through the Rocky, Selkirk and Cascade Mountains. I am asked regularly how our '05 Uplander does towing our Hybrid. It pulls well and we enjoy the combination. It isn't just in Canada however that these are set up to work...I've seen my share in the USA.
So I guess you can doubt my word but I've just ordered the '08 Uplander and we will be setting it up to do the same. I won't pull anything heavier or larger but I will pull our 19 foot hybrid.

RE: Can i climb onto my roof?

Had the same question last year and dropped in to the dealer and spoke to the service manager. He assured me I could under some specific direction. I was to stay away from the centre of the roof, keep near the walls, keep my feet spread and if possible make every effort to spread my weight out.
When I was done, I noticed that one of the corners of the plastic frame on my Fantastic fan had cracked around the screw. Assuming the roof was bending under my 175 lbs I decided So this year to stay on my ladder and used an extended handle on a brush to do the cleaning.

RE: Low Point Drains

By now I assume you have found them - my Surveyor (a Forest River Product) has them below the sink in the kitchen. I can see them easily and assume you should be able to as well.

RE: Bitter Sweet

Our trailer has been winterized for 3 weeks and is sitting in the backyard waiting for next JUNE...yeah that's right JUNE! We won't get out before then! I'm addicted too, but I live in the wrong part of the country.

On the strength of the Canadian Dollar

A few years ago we went from Calgary Alberta to San Francisco and it was a wonderful trip but the exchange rate nearly killed us. I think we were paying 1.35 for every US dollar. Now that the rate is in our (Canadian favour) I'm wondering how many other Canadians are thinking that heading south will be easier and are therefore planning to travel south of the border?
If you are an American and have a thought about coming north I would love to hear it.

RE: Which hybrid do you think is best and why?

We have the Surveyor 190T and we love it for many reasons. We had had a popup so the washroom, hot water, storage room, larger frig were only some of the reasons. We love the hybrid because at night we enjoy the feeling of being under canvas. It really is the best of both worlds. We looked at lots of manufacturers and felt that Forest River products were good quality.

RE: Another Winterizing Question

I'm not sure that you need to do that. If you open your low point drains and taps shouldn't most of the water be pulled through? I've never put anti-freeze in the city intake.
I simply use the trailer pump to circulate the anti-freeze through the system making sure all the lines are filled and the tanks have some too!
